Well there is a problem ... In Redhat 6.2 you'll have a 2.2.X kernel ...
ipfwadm isn't supported in the 2.2.x kernels. You could downgrade, but
thats just a lot of work, and makes upgrading a pointless task. Ontop
of all that, the next kernel upgrade to 2.4.X will have yet another
firewalling system calling ipfilter. What you'll learn about ipchains
will be shortlived unless you plan on sticking with a 2.2.X kernel for
sometime, otherwise you'll be asking this same question in about 5 or 6
months...
The ipchains concept is much different than ipfwadm, and the ipfilter
concept is much different than ipchains, with each upgrade you'll not
just be learning a new syntax, but learning how each one works
internally (if you want to build an effective firewall.) Is it worth
the time ? Thats up to you...............
