Um... "modprobe sound"?  The init scripts normally do that for you when
you boot your system.

Someone else suggested that you "alias char-major-14 emu10k1".  Doing so
has ups and downs. It will cause automatic loading of the sound driver to
work correctly.  However, when not in use, the sound driver will also be
removed.  On some sound cards this causes a "pop" when the driver is
loaded.  I don't know about the Live! cards, since I don't have one.  If
this is the case, it could get very irritating.

If you alias the driver as "sound", then the driver will be loaded at boot
(or when you "modprobe sound") and won't be removed when not in use.
