First thing:
add to options: "noauth" This is a FAQ. Have you checked the FAQ?
Second, if you're going to use KPPP for any reason, you'll need to
edit /etc/pam.d/kppp and change the first line to the following:
auth sufficient /lib/security/pam_permit.so
You might try doing this anyway, even if not using KPPP. It isnt'
likely to hurt anything and there's a slim chance pppd is trying to
use that.
Further, how have you set it up? Are you using the sample info from
/usr/doc/ppp-2.3.11/scripts, or have you generated scrips on your
own? It wouldn't hurt to look at the sample scripts and see if that
makes any difference. You may also need to chmod ppp-on-dialer.
