I'm using the 2.4.0test kernel on one of my machines, and I can confirm
that ipchains definitely works with that kernel. The old ipchains code
has been removed from the kernel and replaced with a better system, but
there is a module called "ipchains" (imagine that) that provides backward
compatibility with the ipchains tool.
