Hi,

I used the CD-Writing-HOWTO document to configure my HP
7200 CD-RW which now works flawlessly. At first I
thought I needed to reconfigure the kernel, but you
just need to run a few modules like ide-scsi and add a
few lines to your /etc/conf.modules like this:

#added as per CD-WRITING HOWTO

  alias scd0 sr_mod # load sr_mod
upon access of scd0
  alias scsi_hostadaptor ide-scsi # SCSI host
adaptor emulation
  options ide-cd ignore=hdc # if /dev/hdc is
your CD-writer

You have to re-link /dev/cdrom to point to /dev/srX,
and reconfigure any gui cd-rom drive short-cut icons
accordingly. That's basically about it.

HTH,
L.G.
