Daniel,
Did you make sure that when you recompiled your kernel, that you
kept support for your modules? You could try 'make oldconfig' in
your /usr/src/linux directory to tell us what you did--just
don't save anything. Maybe we can catch something in the kernel
modifications that shouldn't be, if you'll reiterate the
changes--if you have to, and can't spot the problem yourself.
After all, it was working fine before the recompilation, correct?
