The SmoothWall distro is firewall/Nat/caching DNS/... that's based
on the VA Linux (RH) distro and paired down to ~50M. Install easily
and works quite well; even has a web frontend. Still needs some work,
but a great place to start. It's at www.smoothwall.org.
