Brian,
I studied the "kernel upgrade RPM", but as for me with many of the "HOW TO'S" I found
it more confusing than enlightening! I have more questions:
I did download and installed the file:
kernel-2.2.17-1.i586.rpm

Do I also need to download and install the following files:

 kernel-BOOT-2.2.17-1.i386.rpm
 kernel-doc-2.2.17-1.i386.rpm
 kernel-ibcs-2.2.17-1.i386.rpm
 kernel-pcmcia-cs-2.2.17-1.i386.rpm
 kernel-smp-2.2.17-1.i586.rpm
 kernel-source-2.2.17-1.i386.rpm
 kernel-utils-2.2.17-1.i386.rpm

For me many of the manuals, documents, How To's and books seem to assume I know more
about Linux than I do, or maybe I just have a learning disability. Hopefully some
doors will open and lights will turn on and then I can sing the song
"I can See Clearly Now". So in the meantime I need your kind assistance.

Michael
