eth0 down at boot

When I reboot my machine (running RH7), it sometimes comes up with eth0
"down" (even though it says that it was successfully brought up a boot).

Doing an ifconfig eth0 up fixes it, but that obviously needs to be done at
the console. 

How can I fix this?
