As far as running 'windows' apps under Linux, and not being able to
reverse-engineer an exe file to figure out the required Java commands, I can
only recommend using VMWare (www.vmware.com) or another emulator.  I'm not
sure if you've ever heard of this product, but I think it's great!

RH7, like any other distro/version, will be better in certain situations,
and not appropriate in others.  It may not be recommended for an advanced
Linux developer, but will do fine in other environments.
