I've used efax to send and receive faxes just fine. The only rub I've had is
that I use the fax line also as an incoming modem line on the off-chance that
X croaks taking my display and kbd with it and I need to dial into my system
to fix things.

Save for that interaction between efax and mgetty receiving dial-in, I'm happy
with it. I would guess that one can possibly use mgetty+sendfax to circumvent
the problem, I don't know -- I started with efax and got used to it, so I've
stuck with it...

No, my friend, the way to have good and safe government, is not to trust it
all to one, but to divide it among the many, distributing to every one exactly
the functions he is competent to. It is by dividing and subdividing these
republics from the national one down through all its subordinations, until it
ends in the administration of every man's farm by himself; by placing under
every one what his own eye may superintend, that all will be done for the
best.
