CH,
  Yes I could boot from the CD and I ended up making a new
boot disk with dd from the CD.  My question, and then I will
DROP the subject, is why two releases in a row have had
inoperable boot disks.  Maybe a fluke, but probably not
statistically a high probability.

  Anyway, the upgrade went flawlessly and RH 7.0 seems
faster than 6.2
