Gosh... Well, I haven't tried the professional version, so I can't
comment on any enhancements that they may have made, but for what you're
trying to use I don't see how installation "the hard way" is really all
that hard at all. RPM's for all of those packages come with the
standard set; not all are installed by default -- for example, the "SQL
Server" option in the Red Hat 7 install process will choose PostgreSQL
for you over MySQL unless you choose to customize the package list --
but going back afterward and running rpm -i is simple enough.
Can't speak to firewalling really as I just use a few command lines and
they weren't very hard to learn, but I believe that there are free
automation tools that have kept up with the move to ipchains, and there
should soon be (if there aren't already) similar tools for iptables.
Particularly with firewalling but also with other things, especially if
you're doing anything important, you're probably going to want to
double-check the automated stuff anyway, and/or tweak configurations in
ways that the automation authors didn't anticipate.
If you do try it I'd be interested in hearing a review, though.
