Hi,
I've checked that I've used the right COM/ttys port.
Could it be that I need a special driver/package for the modem?
I know for sure that it isn't a winmodem so that shouldn't be a problem.
It's a PCI, 56k6, Conexant/E-tech Bullet modem with a Rockwell chipset
connected to com3/ttys2 .
*There are two version of this modem:
-Motorola-chipset = winmodem.
-Rockwell-chipset = hardwaremodem.
Could someone please explain to me what AT-strings are?
Here are the settings from the kppp-tool (RH6.1) maybe this helps:
**Accounts:
authentification=PAP
No PPPD arguments
**DNS:
IP from the provider
**Gateway:
Default gateway
Assign the default route to this gateway = marked (Don't know this item)
**login script:
none
**Accounting:
none
**Device:
/dev/modem (standard setting)
CRTSCTS
CR/LF
No lockfile
Modem timeout = 30
Connection speed = 460800 (is this correct for a 56k6?)
**modem:
busy wait: 5 sec.
Modem volume [middle]
modem commands (standard setting)
I try to connect to a Dutch KPN-Telecom network so if you have a few
suggestions.....Do what your heart tells you to do.
To Statux:
The problem of the system that I have here is that it was "designed" as a
Windows computer from spare parts and a few new ones.
I'm sharing this computer with someone that has some limited knowledge on
windows systems
and no knowledge at all about Linux systems.
I have 2 ISA slots, 1 ISA/PCI slot and 3 PCI slots with are filled with a
videocard(PCI), Networkcard(pci), modem(pci), 2nd parallelport(isa),
soundcard(isa) and a Voodoo-1 card(pci).
I could swap a Pci card for an ISA or could use an extrenal modem, but it's
Linux isn't it?
Your advice is appreciated, but I kinda have to work with the things at
hands (lowbudget).
I'll explain:
I've put Linux on this box since I've spending a lot of hours on this
"windows"machine and I thought it would be nice to use it as a "hobby-box".
To Michael:
There has to be a list of all subscribed persons somewhere on the page where
you can unsubscribe and change a few things.
Are you on that list?
If not, the subscribement could have gone wrong.
