Hi

I have a rather strange DNS problem, but there is probably a simple
solution and I'm thinking it has to do with reverse lookups.

I have a couple of IPs, but mostly only use one. I setup a name server on
a spare IPs and set it up to (eventually) be the primary DNS server for
all my domains. Currently a friend does my DNs, and as soon as I am
confident in my setup I want to start using mine.

Anyway, if I start nslookup and then do

server 1.2.3.4

I can query it just fine.

However, if I put a nameserver line in /etc/resolve.conf to force my box
to use the new nameserver instead of my caching only nameserver, I get a
delay and then

Can't find server name for address 1.2.3.4: No response from server

Anyone know what this is? I have 4 IPS, but my isp isn't doing reverse
lookups. Is this the problem? How can I start using this server to test
it?

To be totally honest, the dns box is running behind another gateway
box which is port forwarding traffic for 1.2.3.4:53 to
192.168.2.2:5553. I'm hoping this is not the problem.

Let me know if I can provide more info.
