KDE or GNOME are really fine tools as far as GUI's go. But I consider them a
watering down of the OS because they allow the user to complete tasks that
they don't fully comprehend. I myself am partial to KDE, but hardly ever use
it to manage files. The console or xterm is better suited and far more
secure and stable for such tasks. Plus you never know when you might need to
navigate the system if X window is unavailable for whatever reason, as when
a system rescue is called for. Drag and Drop is never a substitute for basic
knowledge of the workings of the system. So learn it.
