You would be better off installing from an RPM, but if you are going to
install by compilling your own version, you will need to read the install
instructions. The files with the .m4 extension are intended to be
processed by m4. (M4 is a macro processor.) If you are trying to use
them in the m4 source format, that is a BIG part of your problem.
