Hello again,
I upgraded a RH 6.2 to 7.0 tonight and now I have problems booting.
Initially I was unable to boot at all but i went to 'linux single' and
was able to get to inittab and change the boot to level 3. Now when I
try to boot I receive the following errors:

        can't locate module char-major 4
        this goes on several times
        can't locate module char-major 180

A ctrl-C will stop this and give me a dead login prompt. The only way
out is to shut the machine off.

  My question:
        1. Is there a way to fix this mess? If so, where do I begin reading?
        2. Should I just get into the FS and save the few files that I need to
save and reinstall from scratch[with a full harddrive format]? - I
really don't want to do this.
        3. Try another update with new boot and update diskettes?

Direction appreciated. If I don't get back right away it is because i
am on call for the next 36 hours and sleep with take precedence over
fixing the computer.

Thanks to all again for the invaluable help!

Bob
