First of all,are the services ,you mentioned,ftp,telnet e.t.c. running on
"antarctis" machine?
Secondly,from any other machine on the internet,you can issue the "traceroute"
command to find out what path is being followed to reach your server.
It should only have the basic minimum hops followed.i.e.something like:
(1)ip_address of nameserver responsible for the server from where u are trying to
connect to "antarctis".
(2)From ip address of nameserver to maybe ,another Root server.
(3)From root server to name-server for your "antarctis" m/c.
(4)your "antarctis" m/c.
Just some ideas...
Send the o/p of "traceroute" command from the other server till "antarctis".
We might be able to dig out something...
