go to www.redhat.com/errata and look at the 6.2 errata.
the wu-ftp errata there is the fix for this.
you could also get the newer 2.6.1 wu-ftp that ships with RH7.
Or you could also do what Grendel said elsewhere and try ProFTP.
all solutions should work.
