I can't explain your crashes - that sounds pretty uncool.  However the
@@@@'s in log are just another sympton not anything to do with the cause.
This is 'normal' data corruption you get from a hard crash.  The system has
said "Okay - make the file X bytes bigger" but hasn't got round to acutally
writing the data.

Okay course... that's really no help at all to you is it. :)
