They're annoyed because it's not rocket science to get the password and
make any modifications, temporary or permanent, that you need to. At
the bottom of the page who's link is given is a data entry box with the
header line "To change your subscription (set options like digest and
delivery modes, get a reminder of your password,...) You just enter
your email address & click on Edit Options. On the next page is a
prominent option to have your password emailed to you. You don't even
have to unsubscribe to stop list email for a while - select the option
to "Disable mail delivery" and you can put a temporary stop to it until
you're ready to go again.
