First, the scenario:

Server: RedHat 6.0, with NFS exported /home
Users have a quota restriction on /home
Client: RedHat 6.2, with NFS mounted /home from server

I'm having a couple of problems:

1. The quota reported on the workstation for the user's
/home storage space is different than that reported when the
user is logged into the server. For example, when user x is
logged into the server, the quota command reports

Disk quotas for user x (uid 427):
  Filesystem blocks quota limit
   /dev/sdc1 2784 25000 30000

(/dev/sdc1 is mounted as /home). But when logged into a
workstation, quota is reported like this:

Disk quotas for user x (uid 427):
  Filesystem blocks quota limit
   csunix:/home 696 6259 7500

2. Some users have their quota-reported disk usage drift
out-of-sync with the actual usage. For example, a user may
be reported as using 2700 blocks of storage, but a du on his
home directory reports much less. Running quotacheck on the
server will bring things back in sync, until the drift
occurs again.

I would appreciate any suggestions!

Stephen Schaub
