FastEtherchannel is a standard method of allowing you to combine several
100Mbps links into one logical link. It has to be supported by both the
switch you connect to and the NICs you use in the PC. Most Cisco switches
will do etherchannel and I know that Intel Pro 100 ethernet cards support
it - but whether they support it under Linux is another matter.
Alternatively you could do some sort of software based load sharing, but be
aware that ethernet switches will not like the same MAC address being used
on several switch ports, also be wary of solutions that use multicast MAC
addresses as these effectively act like a broadcast on switches not
configured to explicitly support multicasting.
There are Linux software load sharing solutions around, but I don't have
any experience with them. Use Etherchannnel if at all possible for a
stress-free life!
Graham.
