When I say 
echo $PATH I get

/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/local/bin:/opt/bin$:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/java/jdk1.3/bin$


I see those extra dollar signs attached after some
directory names. I really dont have them in the files
which are actually setting the PATH variable.
When I source those files again to set the PATH they
are working fine... but after the first boot I see the
PATH like above.

Any clues.. please help!
