i think i have already asked this before but never got an answer (or did I?)

Anyway...
I have a samba server (HP Netserver 733 MHz, 640 MB memory) running Redhat
7.0
with 2.2.17 enterprise kernel.

The network is switched 100 mbit.
The server has two two 100 mbit cards bonded.

The problem is that whenever a user is copying something to or from the
server (usually large files)
the cpu usage jumps to 100% and as a results the other users on the network
are unable to access
any files or the connection is very slow.

At first I though it was a network problem cause I had only one network card
on the server but
after I installed the second card, nothing changed.

Still cpu jumps to 100% and i have all the users calling me and asking me if
something is wrong which is very annoying and really pisses me off.

Can it be the network cards ? (both of them are intel etherexpress 100)

Will a second CPU solve this?

Thanks,
Spyros
