Because of the inherent limitation of closed source commercial software,
debug-release cycles are much slower. Consequently, these software
products have not been thoroughly tested and validated against the newer
glibc included in 7.0. Some of these applications have made use of
undocumented glibc calls which have either changed behavior or disappeared
in later glibc releases.
The message is, don't use software that ypou don't trust. I tend to be
very sceptical about closed source software personally, and require more
rigorous testing of closed source packages before I deploy them.
