Whether you decide to go to 3.0.6 or 4.x, read a message that Jeff
Johnson at Redhat posted to the RPM list a while back....  Read it a few
times.

I helped me dig myself out of a hole after I screwed up the RPM 4
install.

p.s. Jeff's instructions didn't quite work out for me for rolling back
to 3.0.4.  I had to --force --nodeps rpm* and popt* packagefiles
simultaneously from the install CD.  I was able to move on from there.
