This post makes me think more than ever that gnome is the internet explorer of linux. You can't get rid of it. I recently upgraded a red hat 6.1 machine to 7.0. The 6.1 installation was a kde workstation. Under 6.1, the machine booted into a nice kde login screen. After the upgrade to 7.0, the machine booted into a gnome login screen, with that weird four-toed footprint. What's up with that? > > And question #3 is: > > 3.
