Oh, sorry, that's not quite the whole story. I also start x with
'exec xinit'. Then I don't have to worry about my session being
exposed by screensaver crashes (which hasn't happened with the stock
Red Hat-shipped xscreensaver, but the latest version has some bugs,
which are worth the trouble for NoseGuy, in my humble opinion), or
someone CTRL+ALT+BKSPC'ing my workstation.
