I'd not only NOT disable this, I'd configure it.
Tripwire reports intrusion attempts... it tells you when you've
been compromised, or maybe only changed configs... it's important
if you want to lock down your system.
There's an old saying "Sure you're paranoid... but are you paranoid
enough?"
Tripwire helps you become "more paranoid" about security... a good
thing!
man tripwire
then follow the directions (i.e., as root, /etc/tripwire/twinstall.sh).
