I understand that when it comes to kernel versions, odd numbers are the
release numbers and even numbers are stable release of kernels.
However, I wonder if it may apply to RH releases? For ex. :

RedHat releases:

6.0 Bought it in cd's and it was stable for me.
6.1 Never tried it, you guys had lot's complaints.
6.2 Had to download due to video card requirements and it's stable.
7.0 (even?) Downloaded. Tried alittle but not enough to really say
preferred 6.2 due you
guys saying something about unstable release of gcc.
7.1 Downloaded. Found several glitches in Gnome. Couldn't use gmc,
complains segmentation
faults. I ended up using Konqueror in Gnome to browse files and it
keeps popping up
dialog box complaining program may be broken and gave option "remove
program" and
"cancel". This dialog box shows up in few programs I mostly use and
not able to use

I'm itchin' to upgrade my 6.2 to 7.1, but, would not want to get stuck
with broken programs and ended up reinstalling 6.2 back again. I tested
7.1 on my PII 400 and I have 6.2 on my K6-2 400. Have any of you gotten
7.1 working in range of good to excellent in terms of being able to use
programs without breaking up?
