I'm trying to get my network running. My provider gave me an IP adress
(I'll call it ip.ip), a hostname (host.name), and a gate way (this was
only two numbers long, say 1.2).

So, I changed a few files: /etc/hosts, /etc/sysconfig/network
For example:

$ cat hosts
# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1               localhost.localdomain localhost
ip.ip           host.name

But, when I reboot (how do I restart networking?), DHCP kicks in and
assigns my IP differently then the IP I was given.

Do I need to turn off DHCP (if so how?).
Is there anything else I'm missing?

Thanks
I'm running redhat 7.2

Blake
