If it is just the two machines... (or at least a small set of machines)

On the Win98 box open regedit and set
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VNETSUP

Add or edit...

EnablePlainTextPassword = 1
Base = Hex

It saves a little time for simple things like this. NOT GOOD FOR OTHER
PURPOSES.

Or you can read up on smbpasswd and such.
