I think that this thread is starting to drift OT and is quickly going nowhere.
However, I thought I had to reply to this one. My Win98 box is also purely for games - I fly FS2K on-line and do a bit of air-traffic controlling too. While I don't care about the security of this box, I DO care whether anyone else attacks my box with the potential to use it as a launchpad to attack other boxes. As well as being a socially responsible person, I don't see why I should share the bandwidth that I pay for with anyone else. For this reason, I run Norton AV and Norton Personal Firewall that came with my m/board. Even if they hadn't come free, I'd have got some protection.
