Hmmm, interesting.

What happens when you try to dialin?
What version of ppp are running?
Are there any *.rpmsave, or *.rpmold files in the /etc/pp directory?
What about your logs are there several messages about ppp authentication?
what getty are using?

Subject: ppp auth change betw 7.1 and 7.2?

what exactly changed regarding ppp authentication between redhat7.1 and 7.2?

our 7.1 box was suddenly unable to dial into sover.net anymore after they
upgraded their middlebury pop during the first week in december. we've
been working around the problem by having that box dial into earthlink
instead, which works fine, except we want it back on sover.net.

i did some testing on non-critical boxes, and found that if i install 7.2
fresh, it has no problem dialing into sover.net, but if i use the 7.2 cd to
upgrade from 7.1, something goes awry and it can no longer dial into
anywhere.

since i'm not yet willing to do a full re-install on that 7.1 box, i'm
hoping somebody can tell me what package to upgrade so it can authenticate
into sover.net once again. i did try the ppp package, and that doesn't
appear to be the one..
