1. It makes evolution easier to install, (at least used to) I'm running ximian gnome and like it.
2. Install whatever you want, the ximian install takes out all the relevant RH packages, to make way for ximian. 3. Ximian uses RPM, you will notice their packages are named like: mozilla-0.9.7-ximian.2 so they play fine with RH rpms that are not gnome related, now if you use the RHN to install programs that are installed by ximian I don't know what you would get, I presume a mess. The RHN will complain that your system is grossly out of date, something like 400 packeges need to be updated, it doesn't recognize the ximian packages as being up to date, so it's kinda a hastle to find the packages that you actually need to update from RHN. Red Carpet has a RH 7.2 channel which I assume has the non ximian conflicting packages for RH, but it's as quickly updates as the RHN. 4. dunno. On Tue, 2002-01-29 at 14:16, Rodolfo J.
