Thanks, alone this didn't work intially, I was still receiving a message
that the hostname could not be found.  But after some experimentation I was
able to configure other network files (with a vague understanding of what I
was doing) so that my hostname was recognized without adding anything to
/etc/hosts.  However, after that was done I began toying with linuxconf and
was later unable to start my system without a kernel panic.  I reinstalled
preserving my /home partition, only now RH doesn't recognize my ethernet
card, ifcfg-eth0 doesn't even exist.  ifconfig reveals only lo.  In the
past, getting online was simply a matter of adding my dhcp_hostname (ie
cdXXXXX-x) to ifcfg-eth0.
