Those are summarily dumped in /dev/null. I know many others routinely delete HTML list mail. Those who read the digest versions of the lists only see the raw HTML. Besides being unreadable it grossly increases the size of the digests. Bottomline...if you want your message to be read by the most number of people then it's best to stick to straight text.
