i got the same error, but it was due to the fact that i was using ximian
gnome. once i removed most of that, up2date worked nicely.

Subject: Problem performing up2date

Hey all,

I just tried to do an up2date on my RH 7.2 system, I selected all packages
except the kernel stuff. When it did a dependency check it failed with a
message referring to libipsock. Has anyone else received this? I then tried
de-selecting various packages and ran into a clusterf&*# of other dependency
check problems.

I friend of mine received the same problem a while ago. I have not
forced/removed any packages and did a full install initially. I have not
updates Gnome either.

Does any one have any ideas?

Thanks,
CC
