Hi all, Whilst building my latest Linux (7.1) Server, I was playing around with "linmodems", and installed a driver "hamboot" for an Ambient (Intel) PCI modem.
It didn't work, I removed the modem, and on boot up it still trys to initialise the device... but fails as it's not there. I didn't worry about it too much. Until just now, when I noticed in the logs that the Server apparantly tried to initialise this device earlier, and promptly rebooted the Server!! Now I don't know how I can get rid of the driver... The README told me how to install the file (make, make install, etc), but does not mention how to uninstall it again! Can anybody please point me in the direction of how I can get rid of this driver? It appears as the last service on the list when the Server boots, but is not mentioned in ntsysv... Sorry, I know this is vague but I don't even know what I'm looking for to sort the problem out! Do I need to skim the makefile and remove all the files it mentions or something? do I have to recompile my kernel? help! the Server could reboot again any second! thanks, Greg Conway. *********************************************************************** This is a confidential communication between sender and addressee.
