Before you to too much further, if this will be on the internet do not use
8.8 , 8.9 would be a minimum, you see 8.8 probably would relay by default.
Also, do not edit the .cf file by hand, read on the sendmail site or
elsewhere how to use m4 and the .mc file to do what you need.
I am not sure what you are trying to do, but at Chucks site and mail
archives you will find many answers, also sendmail.org does have most
things covered.
doing a tail -f /var/log/maillog when trying to send will also often
uncover problems, or just look through the mail log.
