Unfortunately quite possible. Would you be able to take it off the network
for several days and see if the panic re-occurs ? Other than that check your
messages log and such for repeated attacks. Also check space on the server
and make sure this isn't being filled up. 

        Next time it panics like that see if it is possible first to ping,
then to telnet into the server. See if there is any life at all in it. It is
quite likely that you will have to take this box off line to attempt to find
out and resolve whatever the issue is. Although it could simply be a dodgy
network card.
