In what sense do you mean on a LAN. A network is a network,
it doesn't care what flavour the computers are which are
attached to it.

Assuming the LAN isn't using BNC connectorsi, the simplistic answer is
plug a cat5 lead from the ethernet card into a hub and assign the
linux box a suitable IP address. Use something like putty on the
Windows boxes to ssh into the linux box or use telnet if
you're not concerned about the security implications.

Is there something more complicated that you're thinking of??
