When the Grub screen comes up, press 'e' to edit the boot line and add '1'
to the end. Then press Enter and 'b' to boot. That will put you into run
level 1 (single user mode). Then edit /etc/shadow to delete the
password. Save the file and run 'passwd' to reset the password.

Then use 'telinit 5' (graphical login) or 'telinit 3' (character login) to
go to your preferred runlevel.
