Hello I am running Red Hat Linux 7.2 and have purchased Oracle 8i for Linux Starter kit book with a copy of Oracle8i.
I am trying to install the Oracle on the system. I have sufficient memory, disk space and all described requirements and have followed the instructions in the Oracle installation guide which involves mounting the CD and setting the appropriate permissions. When I run the ./runInstaller from the Oracle account it comes up with the message : Installing Java Virtual Machine from ../stage/Components/oracleswd.jre/1.1.8/1/Datafiles/Expanded/linux/bin/jre Please wait.... And then it sits and there is no action on the Cdrom and nothing happens. I would appreciate any suggestions as to what I could do to resolve the problem.
