I recently upgraded to Red Hat 7.3 on a Toshiba SatellitePro 6000 laptop, and was pleased to find that the supplied XFree86 trident driver supports the chipset variant found on this machine - unlike the Red Hat 7.2 version (I had to use the generic VESA driver earlier.)
However, when I run in 1280x1024 on an external screen. The quality of the display is very poor. Closer inspection reveals that the refresh rate is only 60Hz, while I'm used to getting 85Hz or similar on our Linux boxes. I have HorizSync 30 - 109 VertRefresh 48 - 160 in the monitor section, so clearly that doesn't limit the rate. I also suspected that failure to find all the video RAM was the problem, but inserting VideoRam 16384 into the devices section did not help. Any idea what else might be wrong? How exactly is the refresh rate determined, anyway? -- Toralf Lund <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> +47 66 85 51 22 Kongsberg Scanners AS +47 66 85 51 00 (switchboard) http://www.kscanners.no/~toralf +47 66 85 51 01 (fax) _______________________________________________ Redhat-list mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://listman.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/redhat-list
