The best help for RHL and GNOME is on mailing lists, not web forums. There are a lot more people on the lists. You get better answers faster. The list archives are very handy too. And don't forget Google. >- How can I get a minimize-all-windows-button for Gnome? This is a window manager function. Most of use Sawfish, which lets you switch to another desktop. It's pretty easy to setup four virtual desktops in Sawfish. Go to Foot -> Settings -> Sawfish -> Workspaces and set it for 1 workspace, 2 columns, and 2 rows. You may have to logout and loginto use the new desktop configuration. If you don't see the four desktops in an applet on your panel, then you may have to add the Deskguide applet to your panel: Foot -> Panel -> Add to Panel -> Applet -> Utility -> Deskguide. If you really want to minimize the windows, then you can use a Sawfish keyboard shortcut that calls the Sawfish "Iconify Workspace Windows" function. >- How can I get a close-all-windows-button for Gnome? There is probably a way to script this in Sawfish using Lisp, but that's just a guess. >- How can I upgrade from Gnome 1.4 to Gnome 2.0? There aren't many programs written for GNOME 2 yet, so I would not recommend upgrading. Tony - -- Anthony E.
