As root, do:
lsmod
This should list all the installed modules. If you don't see the
aha1541 listed, it isn't loaded.
If it is listed, make sure that you have the proper base address and
irq settings correct. You
may have to pass it some options.
My etc/modules.conf shows these two lines for the Adaptec:
alias scsi_hostadapter aha1542
options aha1542 aha1542=0x130
(0x130 is the base address for my card - the normal default is
0x330)
Try the Gnome Control Panel. Select kernel configuration, and add
or edit the module there.
(Running kernelcfg in an xterm does the same thing.)
Also, do a man lsmod, or man modprobe for further reading.
