I am running RH7.3 on a A7V333 with an XP1700. The 20276 RAID does not work, at least for me, so you have to run with plain old IDE. If you want RAID, then I guess use software RAID. The stock 7.3 kernel does not support DMA on the 8233A IDE controller used on the board. However, even without DMA, my subjective impression was that IDE performance was quite good. I am now using this DMA patch (this should be one long line): http://hkernel.bkbits.net:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?nav=index.html%7Ctags%7CChangeSet@1 Works fine for me so far (about a week). The sound quality, using the latest ALSA, with the on board CMI8738 chip, is mediocre. But this is a new chip and I expect that will improve soon. You probably want to install and run hdparm. Only the processor temperature works for me, but that is the important one :-) Those XPs run REALLY hot, and you might want to closely monitor the temperature the first time while doing a couple of processor intensive tasks (like compiling a new kernel) to make sure you have adequate cooling. Actually, I discovered that the thing that drives the temperature highest was a long Quicktime movie running on a game under Wine.
